Thanksgiving Gratitude
Thanksgiving Gratitude: Honoring Women Writers and Writing Prompts for Authors
Thanksgiving is the perfect time to pause, reflect, and celebrate the blessings in our lives. For me, my heart overflows with gratitude for the trailblazing women writers who dared to share their voices when society often silenced them.
I’m especially thankful for the mavericks who challenged the norms, like Charlotte Brontë, who proved that writing inspiration can come from the courage to be authentic. Her novel, Jane Eyre, remains a cornerstone of literary history and a personal favorite of mine.
I’m also grateful for the ability to write and process life through journaling. My journey started with a little blue journal when I was a kid (still a top-four color for me!) and continues to this day. Writing is more than a career—it’s a way to navigate emotions, reflect on experiences, and connect with others.
Writing has given me space to grow and share, and I’m reminded every Thanksgiving of just how transformative it can be.
A Tribute to Women Writers Who Paved the Way
One of the women I deeply admire is Charlotte Brontë, whose courage and creativity changed literary history. She and her sisters originally published under male pseudonyms to avoid the stigma against women writers. Charlotte’s eventual revelation of her identity empowered countless women to pursue their dreams.
As Charlotte Brontë once said:
"I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will."
Her words remind us of the power of writing inspiration to free our minds and inspire change. To learn more about her legacy, visit The Brontë Society (link opens in a new tab).
Writing Prompts to Inspire Gratitude
This Thanksgiving, let’s reflect on our journeys as writers. Here are two prompts to spark inspiration and explore Thanksgiving writing prompts:
Journal Your Gratitude Journey

Write about how writing has helped you navigate life, connect with others, or express your emotions.
Write a Thank-You Note
